Leading companies, research institutions, and public organizations showcase Spain’s growing role in the global open computing movement.
Granada, Spain — September 30, 2025. Spain is emerging as a key driver of innovation in the global RISC-V ecosystem, with a growing network of companies, research institutions, and public organizations contributing to its momentum. Highlighting this leadership, Quintauris hosted “The Leading Role of Spain in the RISC-V Ecosystem” in Granada, bringing together key representatives from RISC-V International, Spanish industry, academia, and public organizations to share insights and underscore Spain’s impact on the future of open computing.
The program began with a welcome keynote from the Granada City Hall and the University of Granada. Representing the city, Vito Episcopio, Deputy Mayor of Granada, highlighted Granada’s emergence as a technology hub where innovation, research, and entrepreneurship intersect, and stressed the city’s capacity to support high-level industry initiatives. From the University of Granada, Carlos Sampedro, Director for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation, and Almudena Rivadeneyra, Associate Professor at the Dept. Electronics and Computer Technology and Co-Director of the Quintauris Aula, emphasized the university’s commitment to open standards, collaborative research, and training the next generation of professionals who will shape the future of RISC-V in Spain and Europe.
Building on this future perspective, RISC-V International represented by Teresa Cervero, highlighted the transformative potential of RISC-V across research, companies, and industries worldwide.
The event also featured key representatives of the growing Spanish RISC-V ecosystem, including the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Openchip, Semidynamics, Frontgrade Gaisler, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha. Their participation highlighted the depth of expertise, innovation, and collaboration shaping Spain’s contribution to the global RISC-V movement, and reinforced Quintauris’ mission of advancing RISC-V adoption by fostering alignment across the ecosystem.
“This gathering was a milestone for Spain’s RISC-V ecosystem,” said Pedro Lopez, Managing Director of Quintauris Spain. “By uniting research, industry, and public institutions, we’ve demonstrated the collective strength and momentum that make Spain a key contributor to the global RISC-V movement.”
What is RISC-V?
RISC-V is an open-standard instruction set architecture (ISA) that enables flexible, customizable processors for a wide range of applications, from high-performance computing and AI to embedded systems. Its open nature allows faster innovation, easier collaboration, reduced reliance on proprietary solutions, and supports Europe’s technological independence.
