FPGA Engineer
Overview
We are looking for an FPGA Engineer in our Granada office to enable prototyping of Quintauris platforms on FPGA. You will integrate CPU and subsystem IP, optimize FPGA configurations, and support hardware/software co-validation. This role is hands-on and central to accelerating our platform development cycles, with a focus on larger FPGA devices. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Xilinx UltraScale/UltraScale+ FPGAs and automation of FPGA flows. Experience with Synopsys HAPS or other large prototyping systems is a plus, but not required.
Specific Skills
- Hands-on and detail-oriented problem solver
- Independent and reliable in managing prototyping tasks end-to-end
- Strong communication for collaboration with architects and cross-functional teams
- Focus on automation, reproducibility, and maintainable design flows
Responsible For
- FPGA Prototyping: Implement and integrate CPU cores, subsystems, and peripherals on large FPGA devices.
- Board Bring-Up: Perform synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and FPGA board-level bring-up.
- System Integration: Connect CPUs, memory systems, and peripheral IP into complete prototyping platforms.
- Tool Flows & Automation: Develop and maintain build scripts, automation flows, and FPGA tool configurations.
- Debug & Validation: Debug FPGA prototypes using simulation, hardware probes, and CPU debug/trace tools.
- Collaboration: Work with verification, CPU, and software teams to enable hardware/software co-development.
- Documentation: Maintain reproducible design flows, build instructions, and prototyping guidelines.
- Scaling: Support migration of prototypes across different FPGA boards, including larger prototyping platforms.
Additional Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in FPGA design, prototyping, or RTL integration.
- Large FPGAs: Proven experience with high-capacity FPGA devices and timing closure on complex designs.
- Technical Expertise: Strong skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog and FPGA flows (Vivado, Quartus, or equivalent).
- Scripting: Excellent scripting skills (Python, TCL, Make, Bash) for automation and reproducible flows.
- Board Knowledge: Hands-on experience with FPGA boards and subsystems (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, etc.).
- Debugging: Familiarity with FPGA debug tools (Chipscope, SignalTap, JTAG probes).
- Desired: Experience with Synopsys HAPS prototyping systems.
- Plus: Experience with CPU debug and trace tools; knowledge of RISC-V CPU prototyping.
